St Anne's Catholic Church
Ormskirk

Union of Catholic Mothers (UCM)

St Anne's Church, Ormskirk

Founded in 1913, the UCM is a national organisation with approximately 900 members in the Liverpool Archdiocese; membership is open to all Catholic women.
Our aims are:

  1. To embrace the ideals of Christian marriage and family life and to promote stability and commitment in the home, the Church and the world.
  2. To encourage our children to practise their faith and to be part of the life of the Church and wider community.
  3. To defend Christian values in marriage and family life and in the wider community.
  4. To offer sympathy, love and practical help to any family in difficulty.
  5. To foster vocations, especially in marriage and family life, as well as to the priesthood or religious life.

St. Anne’s Foundation was formed in 1953 and our members are committed to fulfilling the 4th Object in particular and to supporting the Parish. Our meetings are held twice a month and cover a wide range of subjects.

We regularly meet up with UCM members from other parishes to pray together or attend Mass in their parish or ours. The UCM has links with other organisations we have frequent get-togethers to reflect on and discuss various issues that affect family life and how we can play our part in supporting relationships and family life.

We also have lots of fun, with quizzes, guest speakers and especially our Social Evenings shared with our sister members across the Archdiocese, and on days and evenings out.

Meetings are at 7.30pm on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month in St. Anne’s Parish Centre and our programme of events can be seen on the Notice Board in the entrance to the church. Please feel free to come along one evening with absolutely no commitment
