The Gift Aid Scheme Our parish Gift Aid Scheme has been up and running for many years and the clergy and the organisers thank most sincerely all those who have been able to participate in it. If you have not already joined the Gift Aid Scheme read on to see what you can do The Gift Aid Scheme is a simple way for taxpayers to increase their donations to the church at no extra cost to themselves. When you sign a Gift Aid Declaration to the church, which is a charitable institution, HM Revenue and Customs will refund the tax on all recorded donations that you make to the Church (no matter how small, or large. The current rate of tax refund is 28p for every £1 donated.
You will need to complete a Gift Aid Declaration and have some evidence of payment. There are different ways you can do this:
We are unable to claim any tax back on loose money that is placed in the collection plate so please try and use one of the methods above. What happens next: The total amount given by any person will be counted up at the end of the year and the tax paid on this will be recovered from the Inland Revenue What happens if I stop paying tax or if I want to change the amount? If you stop paying tax you should let the gift aid organizer know. If you wish to change your donation just alter the amount you pay by standing order by informing your bank, or place the new amount in your weekly envelopes. There is no need to inform anybody or fill in any forms. The new amount will be picked up automatically from the parish records. If you would like to join the gift aid scheme or would like to have more information please contact the Parish Gift Aid Organizer: Willem Wiechers on 01695 573744 or e-mail him at willem@wiechers.freeserve.co.uk |
