Baptism

St Anne's Church, Ormskirk

Baptism of children under 4: the sacrament of baptism celebrates the very essence of our Christian faith. It is the celebration of new birth as a child of God and as a member of the Church community

When parents bring an infant to the community for baptism, they confirm that they will share their faith with their child. To help them with this there are preparation sessions. Before the baptism itself, parents bring their children to Mass to introduce them into the Church community. Baptisms normally take place on Sunday at 12.15.

Baptism of young people aged 7 and over, and adults : as these young people and adults make baptismal promises for themselves, they need to understand about the commitments they are making.

The preparation is arranged to meet the needs of each individual following the principles of adult preparation
